caregiver provides, child decides…

It is my belief that meal times create so many oppertunities for young children to learn, connect, and nourish their bodies and souls. My philosophy is that the caregiver provides the food, and the child decides what goes in their mouth. period.

Food is an important part of how children learn, grow, and experience the world. In my daycare, I view mealtimes as an opportunity to nourish children's bodies, build healthy relationships with food, and foster curiosity about new flavors and ingredients.

Each day, I prepare two home-cooked meals and one snack from scratch. I take great care in sourcing quality ingredients and thoughtfully planning meals that are balanced, wholesome, and nutrient-dense. My goal is to provide food that supports healthy development while also being enjoyable and comforting for young children.

I believe that early childhood is the perfect time to gently introduce a wide variety of foods, flavors, textures, and cultural influences. While I strive to expand children's palates and encourage adventurous eating, I always do so in a way that is appropriate and approachable for toddlers. Familiar favorites are balanced with opportunities to try something new, helping children develop confidence and openness around food.

Mealtimes are also a shared experience in my program. I sit and eat the same meals alongside the children whenever possible. By modeling enjoyment of nutritious foods and participating in conversations around the table, I help create a positive and relaxed atmosphere where children can learn through observation and connection.

Above all, I want children to feel nourished, respected, and supported as they develop lifelong healthy eating habits. My approach is rooted in care, quality, and the belief that good food brings people together.
